28 Days of Thanks: Science

I am thankful for science. Not just that it exists, as the fact that it exists is just a natural part of being, but that it is supported by our society to the extent that it is.

Children get vaccines that will save them from diseases that once claimed the lives of many. Research vessels go to Mars to help us uncover mysteries of our known universe. Cures for cancer are tirelessly searched for in labs across the world. Astronauts are sent to the moon...because we're human and we can.

Without science, we wouldn't have flight. Without science, we wouldn't have Jurassic Park (because we wouldn't have known about dinosaurs, obviously). Without science, we wouldn't have electricity or computers, cell phones or modernized medicine, automobiles or television.

So, yeah, science is pretty damn important.
